I also have Birtish ancestors that I am looking for. What you mentioned is rather in accurate. Back then th eman would have to convert into Islam to be able to marry a muslim girl. In that case the parrents would not have anything against it. I have heard stories about how my British ancestor (I am not sure about the gender) had to convert into Islam.
