Hi,

as I know it was about 1900-1920 that in Iran the Qadjar family who ruled the country at this time (I dont know the name of the king), said that everybody in Iran has to have a family name/surname. Most of the people had none, so many of them took the name of their city or town where they lived. Tehrani means "from Tehran" (Teheran. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me at christine@ladan.at
Kind regards, Christine
