You are right. This is because she married the man in the photo who was part of the british military in India, and presumably took on the western culture, clothes and names for her children.

Many years later, I am wondering where she was from, and hence where am I from. My family history is only told from the british side and has no record of the persian story, but i would very much like to find out who she was.
