Genealogy is done mostly by us older folks while computers are used primarily by the younger generation. Computers and genealogy programs have greatly helped research and record our ancestry, BUT why can't the computer builders and programers just KEEP IT SIMPLE for us old folks. We have a hard enough time going back now and learning how to use computers. I never used one until about 70. We just weren't raised around them, or those silly phones. I don't need all the fancy stuff the new machines and programs offer. It's fine for those that do, but I know lot of old codgers that would love to do research but say they could never learn how to use a computer. Geeze, I was doing great researching with WebTV then had to buy a computer just to record all my work. Now I have to learn Windows 7, how to transfer files to 2012 FTM, and how to straighten out all the stuff that gets messed up, or lost, with a new program. I have no use for all the new features of the 2012; or Windows 7 for that matter. Someone could make a fortune selling old timey computers and simple tree builders to old folks : )
