Changing from Version 10 FTM to 2012 FTM

I have just purchased a new computer and had to also purchase a 2012 Deluxe Family Tree Maker program as the Version 10 I had on the old computer would not work. After spending most of the day on the phone with support, I finally got the 2012 program installed but could not get my Family Tree installed from either a flashdrive or CD. I finally went to start-computer and found on C Drive several backups the latest being from Dec 2011. This transfered to my 2012 program but cost me 7 months work.
Is there any way I can get the info from the backup CD or flashdrive to my files?
