If double click on the "Family Tree Maker 2009" icon the program opens,
then if I go "File" menu on the tool bar at the top of the screen and click on "Restore" it brings up a window entitled "Choose File to Restore" then I could scroll down find the file I want select it and click on "Open" a new window pops up titled "Name for Restored File" so I type in another new name click on "Save" then a little window comes up Restore and a progress bar comes up with elapsed time and estimated time as it seems to load, only takes about 5 seconds then presto the program comes up with "New Tree" tab just below the file menu. Below the New Tree tab is a blue bar that shows "Getting Started" below that is
"Getting started is easy. There are two ways to build your family story." underneath that is "Enter what you know" beside that is "Import a tree from an existing file"
on the far right of the screen is a window "Trees" on the top right of that window is "options" underneath the "Trees" heading in that window is a couple of older smaller family tree files with dates that will open fine. Below these is another window called "Web Dashboard"
