I am glad to see their is interest in Capt. Billy.I have been to his grave on two occassions and hopefully will return.I am descended from Captain Billy through his youngest son, Willis Bush.Willis Bush moved to Glassgow Kentucky after the death of his father and resided with his eldest brother. He met and married Malinda Welsh.
From this marriage there were several children born. Most of these children eventually moved to Texas. The first son to come to Texas was Christopher who was following his mother's brother, G.W. Welsh.G. W. Welsh came to Texas in 1835 and fought in the Texas Revolution. For this service he received several land grants.
G. W. died in Nacogdoches, Texas in 1840.Christopher came to Texas to clain his uncle's land.He arrived in Nacogdoches, Texas about 1845 in time to enlist and fight in Mexico in the Mexican American war. It was about this time that Willis and Malinda along with their children moved from Glassgow Kentucky to Gallatin Tenn.
In 1850 Christopher returned to Gallatin, were he died. Two years latter, his brother Edwin Welsh Bush, with his father's blessing set out for Texas to carry on the bussiness, that G.W. and Christopher had started. He arrived in Nacogdoches Texas in 1852 and travel extensively through out east and south centeral Texas.
(I have Edwin's diary of this and other trips, which I copied and placed in the Winchester Library, along with some other paper's that I had.)Edwin finally brought most of his brothers and sisters to Texas, where by the mid 1860's all were dead except Edwin, Tomkin, and George W. Bush.George W. Bush was my Great Grandfather.
I would like to communicate with others who might be researching the heirs of Captain William "Billy" Bush.I am especially interested in William Tandy Bush, the eldest son of Capt. Billy. He resided in Glassgow, but moved to Ill. with his daughter Americus Bush and her family.I have some information on her married name, but it is not
readly available as I write this.I believe she married a man by the name of Trigg Logan. This man's father had been in business with William T. Bush in Glassgow.I believe Logan was a Lawyer.Incidently, some of the houses that William T. Bush and his brother Willis Bush built in Glassgow are still being occuppied.
Hope to hear from someone on this.Gary A. Rogers
