This is what I've done:
Create a new source for the information.
TITLE: Gravestone Inscription/Transcriptiom Victoria Lawn Cemetery, St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. ( Now you know I'm
Where it says to Edit source, the pull down menu gives you the choice of tombstone. Your source location can be the place name.
There may be several different people in the same plot or section. So you can't use the footnote field on the first page of the source, because it'll put the same info for everyone, if you use to source 5 or 6 people. I've also added new fields.
A person may ahve died for example in Lansing, Michigan, but buried in Detroit. You should record the name of the cemetery, and the burial date which is different than the death date. The person may have been cremated as well. Death date still applies. You can also record the name of the funeral home by creating that field.
I've taken photographs of the tombstones to scan to add into the FTM program for that family.
I recorded the information in the new fields I created for each person. This keeps the lines shorter. It is also a bit more work, but it keeps things seperate.
A few other ideas. You have a bunch of photos. You want to record them. You might have a scanner or not, and want to have it recorded. Instead of sourcing it the following way:
Stephen's Studio, Detroit, Michigan
Leisensing Studio, Ft. Doge Iowa
Picture from Aunt so-in-so
Cousin Dave's photo
F.B. Clench Photo, Lockport, NY.
Frank Moore Photographer, Cleveland, Ohio
Proctor & Thompson, Charlestown, W.V.
For Unknown Photographers, use that term. But if there is a place name, use it.
You can get all confused scrolling down the list.
Do this for studios
PHOTO - Stephen's Studio...
PHOTO - Lesensing Studio...
PHOTO - F.B. Clench...
PHOTO - Frank Moore...
PHOTO - EVERITT family & place name
PHOTO - Kelso Family & place name
( I think you get the idea. It'll list the sources with all the photos appearing in the list one after another, and you don't have to keep scrolling up & down the source list.The family photos will be general, because you may end up having various pictures from different family members with the same surname. It keeps it simple and less complex.
Do the same thing with Obituaries & Marriages. However, be specific.

Continue to do this for all. It takes more time. However, all the newspapers will be in order, and you can read that it is specifically for the person. This gives you the option of typing in the footnote area any information you want instead of the note section. Unless it is really long, or you have long articles.
