The grave site of Capt. Billy Bush is on Old Boonesborough Rd. south of Winchester, KY about 5 miles. If you go to the Olde Rock Barn Gift Shoppe on that road the graves are up on the hill in front of the shop. We have been there many times and the cemetary has been left to grow over and disappear forever. Capt. Billy was just as instramental in the formation of Ft. Boonesborough and Kentucky as Daniel Boone was. We must not let this cemetary disappear!!
We spent 6 hours rebuilding about 11' of the stone wall, setting his head and foot stones upright and weeding. We live about 4 hours away and will try to get back down there this summer to do some more. If you go there, pull a weed or two!!
The graves of the other brothers do exist! However, only one other has an actual head stone. This is the grave of Philip Bush Sr. This site is located off of Quisenberry Lane on the other side of Rt 627. It is back up on a hilltop behind the first farmhouse you come to on your left (white house). If you don't have 4 wheel drive, I would not advise you to try this unless you car sits up very high!! I was pulling wheat and grass from underneath my Saturn for weeks!
We know when the others are buried but they have no markers.
I hope this is either interesting or helpful to someone. I also have tons of information on the entire Bush family.
