Hi Peter
I am the elusive Peter T Innocent who you wish to correspond with. I am delighted to see you have beaten me to the task of developing an Innocent Family web site. It had been my intention to set one up this year but I see no sense in competing when pooled effort may produce more accurate data. I have done a great deal of research on the Innocent family(s) basing it on both my own family line and also on one name (INNOCENT) research. I have a considerable amount of data stored and so should you wish we may be able to exchange info.
My own line goes back to William b 1606 and his wife Margaret b c1606 in Kibworth Beauchamp moving through Mancetter and Coventry over time, and indeed both my father, grandfather and great grandfather and others were Coventrians . I regard them as the Warwickshire/ Leicestershire line of the family the earliest of which I have found being Esme Innocent b 1536 in Saxelby Leics. The Nottingham line has Thomas b 1546 in Skegby, the Yorkshire/Derby line John b 1550 in Barlow, the London line Joane b1559 in Aldgate and of the rest of the country Franc b 1612 in Kirkby Green Lincs. I am sure that all these are inter related in one way or another and that many started as agricultural workers but then moved to the towns and indeed around the country in search of work in either factories or in skilled trades, thus we find the weavers, the jewellers and clock makers, the knife and cutlery makers and in more recent times the cycle and car workers and most recently entrance into professions. Hope this is an encouragement for us to correspond
sincerely
Peter Thomas INNOCENT b Meriden 1947
