`2007 August 17 t'h / 18 t'h Hello Roy, Regu' Hugh Innes whom is said to have been the father of Elizabeth Innes [she whom wed to William Mitchell]. I find that in the published and printed volumes of "History of Scotland / Genealogy" by John Philip Wood circa `1840_`1850. That a Hugh Innes is noted as being the youngest son of James Innes...whom wed to Margaret Kerr. However he Hugh is therein reported as having died in Flanders. Although the same text does mention a three further siblings, of the same Hugh Innes. One of whom was named Elizabeth, and one of whom was married to a certain Captain Innes, of Ireland. Therefore two if not three distinct conjectural issues may be said to exist; i' e' that the report of Hugh Innes having died in Flanders was not correct - which is probable - Or that there was an interim of years during which Hugh Innes sailed from Scotland with one or two of his named brothers and arrived at Virginia - then later went off to Flanders. OR that one of his sisters whom wed to Captain Innes, of Ireland ... which is the said event thereat {perhaps also Captain Innes whose forename was Hugh} sailed to Virginia etc'. Or perhaps there were three sons of the same Captain Innes whom came to Virginia, one Hugh - of whom was father to Elizabeth Innes, whom wed to William Mitchell. As for the certitude of Elizabeth Innes having wed to William Mitchell and their daughter [Mary / Margaret] having wed to Henry Clay is of little or no doubt. In that each retrospect of inquiry does - as I have found - co-oborate the same. Or otherwise some extant explanation is most elusive. I am, D'r Prof' Stephen E' M' Diamond, L' L' D'. Direct Descent from Elizabeth Innes / William Mitchell Notify Administrator about this message?
