Goldie,
I have no further info on Amelia.I estimate her birth year at about 1750 because that's when James Lemon was born.I don't have a clue as to where she might have been born.I beleive she had died before her husband James in 1832, because his obit refers to the fact that he (alone) had gone to live with his son in Louisville from his home in Lexington.
I've looked at the Scott Co. site for years.I've been there, too, researching. There is nothing there that I've been able to find/pinpoint as definitively Amelia.Without her last name, taking a chance on it being Innes based on the middle name of one, possibly two, of her sons, is just kind of a last hope.
When the Kentucky Derby began, the firm Lemon & Son, Inc., which was a jewelry store started by James & Amelia's son, Joseph Innes Lemon, then passed on to their grandson and great-grandson, was chosen to produce the trophy.I think they still do.The business is recognized as the oldest one in Louisville.
If you can find any information pointing me towards Amelia being or NOT being an Innes, I would be most grateful.
Cindi
