The following information was taken from the Histoey of Fayette County Pa . It may be of helpe to several interested members of the Inks families.
Thomas Inks built a tavern in 1780.His wife's name was Nancy Leasure.They raised a large family Thomas one of his sons,was born in 1784 and lived to be 92 years of age.He married Susan Hannagan from Bedford raised a familyand lived on the ols road as a tavern keeper.
George another son married Elizabeth Jonas.He too was a tavern keeper.
John another son was in the War of 1812
He had 5 daughters,Rachel married Samuel Spau, near Farmington. Elizabethmarried John Carroll and went West, Nancy married James Hurst and went West. Mary married James Wares and went West, Rachel married Peter Hager.
One of John's sons John Inks Jr fought in the war of 1861.Mustered in the service Oct 18th 1961.He died during the war as a result of a gunshot wound.
George Inks ( my Grandfather)anther son and a brother of John Inks Jr went to enlist in the winter of 1863.In making the trip to headquarters had his feet frozen and was sent back home by the army officers,later on George enlisted , but did not see service as the war ended at that time.
