Jody, there is a house in Chestertown, Kent Co. MD known as the Lorain House and it was sold to a William McKenny.
Source is The Historic Houses of Kent Co. by Michael Bourne, p. 199. Thomas Lorain (a mariner) or his son John built it.
Believe it or not a friend is researching the ancestors of Rev. L. L. Langstroth, the Father of Modern Beekeeping. Elizabeth (Lorain) Dunn is Langstroth's grandmother--her dau. Rebecca Dunn married John George Langstroth at Philadelphia. Elizabeth Dunn married second Gideon Comegys. Clyde Cowan, co-discoverer of the neutrino, also descends from Elizabeth (Lorain) Dunn. L. L. Langstroth claimed that Elizabeth Dunn's grandfather was a Huguenot refugee named Count Louis Lorraine. I guess that would be Thomas' father if so.
Do you happen to know which McClean Mary McKenny married after Thomas Lorain?
Have you found out any more concerning Elizabeth Ingram?
my best,
Matt Redman
