Dean, I found a Jacob Ingraham, age 68, in Pine Grove, Portage Co, WI in the 1860 census. He was born in Connecticut, which makes sense. It's unlikely he could have been born in Wisconsin in 1792, as the only whites there were fur trappers. Wisconsin Territory was established in 1836 - before that it was part of Northwest Territory, Illinois Territory and Michigan Territory. Since Bancroft is also in Portage County, you may have to do some research to learn how close Pine Grove and Bancroft are to each other. I couldn't find Pine Grove on a current map, so maybe there was a town name change. ?? Anyway, he was a farmer in 1860, living with his wife Eliza (b. NY) and a young man, also named Jacob Ingraham, aged 17 (b. NY). Hope this helps. Shirley Roemer Notify Administrator about this message?
