David, this is a stab in the dark. I had a g-g uncle from (W)VA. His name was Jesse Jacob Ingraham or Jacob Jesse, he went by J.J. When he was 14 he ran off and went to sea and returned some 15 or so years later. Then he was a "Col." of sorts in the Moccasin Rangers, a group of renegades that the CSA finally took into their cause. He was captured and sent to Camp Chase. I lose him there for a couple of years - perhaps he went back to sea for the CSA. In 1870, he was in Kanawha County area of WV. Then lost forever.........
