Sorry, I meant to say that I think this John Inglis born of Ann Taylor was my Great Grandfather.

I am still trying to track this down so any information would be valuable.

When Ann Taylor married Joseph Drummie in 1862, she took young John with her and he shows in later census records although sometimes spelled as Ingels.

I have actually tracked down John Inglis in Leith who was my Great Grandfather. Two of his children Joseph (my Grandfather) and Margaret carry the second name Drummie which would indicate a familiarity with someone called Drummie. In the 1901 Census, the family has a visitor - Robert Drummie - who was born in the Edzell area and was probably another son of Joseph Drummie and Ann Taylor.

Therefore, he would have been John Inglis younger half brother.

John Inglis and Robert Drummie were both pall bearers at Joseph Drummie's funeral.

I cannot see how this can all be coincidence. I'd like to track further records of John Inglis to see if Ann Taylor was actually his mother.

I guess getting in touch with Angus records is the best way!
