Does anyone know how the village of Inglismaddy in Angus, Scotland got it's name? It's not far from Montrose where many Inglis' families lived. There is a poem by Helen Cruikshank called " Shy Geordie" that mentions the village, " Up the Noran Water, In by Inglismaddy," The obvious is that it was called after an Inglis named Maddy but who was she? Any ideas?
jane.
