Very little is known about my g.g.g. grandparents life in Scotland, except that they lived in Berwickshire. In 1860 their son James (b 23/5/1831 in Butterdean) emigrated to New Zealand, and later they also went to live in NZ (another son had also gone to NZ in 1868) - a pretty traumatic move for a couple well into their 70's.
John died in 1871 aged 80 (so this would make his birth year around 1791).
Does anyone have any information that may help me trace the family further?
