My husband's great grandfather, John Inglis, was born in Ayr Scotland ~ 1840 and emmigrated to Canada ~ 1849. He married a Margaret Dickson in Montreal in 1868. He sired ~10 children who were born in Teeswater Ontario, Duluth MN, and Chicago Illinois. His family probably farmed. He became a well know crop estimator in later life and belonged to the Chicago Board of Trade. He might have had a brother, Robert.
Is there a possible connection with your family?
