Hi Dave
I wish I knew what they did, I haven't had the chance to delve that deep into the research yet. My first Ingley is Mary (b.14 Nov 1736), she married James Bibb (who's grandson John was an architect of some note in the early days of the colony in Sydney). Mary's dad was John Ingley (b. abt 1700 in Dudley). John's parentage is a mystery at this stage and I have not gone far down the line with his other children (4 sons, Joseph, Thomas, Benjamin and John), so I suppose I was trying to cheat a bit and see if your William had any connection back to them. From the sounds of things I'm pretty close to the limits of how far we can go back with the Ingleys - Yngley sounds more Scandanavian than old English. Anyway, I'll let you know if I do get any further with "the boys" and find your William amongst them.
Thanks for the reply
