Hello. I found out that my maternal ancestors and kin knew the DRAPERS and INGLES of Draper's Meadow, VA and other VA communities.

This is why I am interested in any DRAPER and COBBS/COBB marriages or connections.

One of my maternal cousins is a direct descendent of Mary (DRAPER)INGLES's son Raymond INGLES. Raymond was not the child of William INGLES... but of Dragging Canoe, Cherokee Chief. Dragging Canoe was the son of Attacullaculla aka Litle Carpenter who Shawnee and Napuchee. Young Dragging Canoe came and kidnapped Raymond and raised him himself along with his wives Ollie and Leaf. Raymond married a Cherokee woman and had at least one child. Young Dragging Canoe often ate dinner there at Mary DRAPER INGLES's house... and more.

Mary Draper's brother was John DRAPER and he was a good friend of William INGLES.

Your story is very similar to the story told to me by my DRAPER cousins... they said that she did have a child by one of the Shawnees that abducted her and that she had to leave that child behind when she ran away to go back home.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Peace and blessings.
Dolores Cobb Phifer
