Dear Tony Ingham & Gilly. I am Sid Ingham,80,living in Melbourne, Australia. My g.g.g. grandparents, James & Alice Ingham, married at Burnley around 1788. They had 6 children, the first 2 at Burnley & the last 4 at Manchester. I am descended from the last child, James Ingham(1804 - 56), who was transported for life from Manchester to N.S.W.in 1824 for his own & his country's good. His elder brother, Joseph, 1792 -1866),was buried at Sandy Gate, Habergham Eaves.Perhaps you two, Tony & Gilly, might be able to tell me a little about that area & S.Gate. To an Aussie, H.Eaves sounds so exotic!Or anyone else who happens to read this plea.I am at sidi@ dodo.com.au, & I'm on 02 9815 1332. I live at 73 Denham St., Hawthorn, Australia, 3122.Nearly 20 years ago I roamed for a week from Padiham to Burnley, being quite conscious of ancestral links. It was summer & the experience was exhilerating in the canal country. All the best from Sidney Ingham.Incidentally, Freddy Flintoff seems a bit of a handful for us Aussies!
