I have been able to determine that Clarissa Ingersoll Whitney (1819-1883) had a brother Thomas and a niece Nelly through famiy autograph books and photographs. According to the census, Deodat Ingersoll (b.1790) was living with a young adult female and youg female child before his marriage to Catherine Smith. I have not yet proved conclusively that Thomas Root Ingersoll and Mary J. Ingersoll were her half siblings, but I am working on that -- hoping to find a descendant of the latter(s) to confirm photographic evidence.
