Edward H. Inge was the son of Dr. James Milton Inge and Martha Harrison Fitzgerald. He was born in Pittsylvania Co. Va and moved to Kentucky and then to Texas. He was the second of nine children, Sarah b. 1834, Edward B. 1836, John b. 1838, Almira b. 1840, born in Virginia Rebecca b. 1843, Martha b. 1845, Mary b. 1847, Margaret b. 1849, and Jams b. 1852 born in Kentucky. The family moved to Texas in October, 1858 with a wagon train. The family lived in Bonham Tx. where their father died and then moved to Denton TX.

His brother John Walter was also a soldier in the Confederate army he enlisted as a Private for the Confederacy in Texas
