Ingate Kent England
Posted by: John Boon (ID *****3933) Date: October 04, 2004 at 12:49:57
  of 1

William Boon married Susannah Burrell in Gravesend in 1803. He gave one of his children the unusual second name of Inget, which I believe should really have been Ingate and was presumably given to preserve a family surname. Another child had Eleanor as one of her forenames.

Thomas Inget married Ellen or Eleanor Hunter, daughter of William Hunter, in Wrentham, Suffolk, in 1774. In this same village a William John Boon was baptised in 1775. This may or may not be 'my' William, but it does show that a Boon and an Inget lived in Wrentham at that time. There were many other Ingates in the area, too.

On 26 April 1783 Helen Ingate was born to Thomas Ingate and Helen Hunter, daughter of William Hunter, in Plumstead, Kent. On 27 November 1785 Eleanor Ingate was born to Thomas and Eleanor Ingate in East Wickham, Kent. The Suffolk Hunters frequently used the forenames Ellen, Helen and Eleanor.

Does anyone know of any connection between these Boons and Ingates? There is more on my web site
