Ingalls, James>> MASS to Jefferson Co., Texas 1850's

Searching for parents and grandparents of James Ingalls, born 1818 in Massachusetts, moved to Beaumont, Jefferson Co., Texas by 1850 where he served as a school teacher, school board member, sheriff, and surveyor. Married Esther Nettles Rowley (first husband was Timothy Rowley). Children: James, Esther, Mary, Caroline, and Charles. James lived until at least 1880. Many descendants remained in Jefferson Co., TX. All censuses show that James was born in Massachusetts, but where? Who were his parents? Grandparents?

I have some, though not a lot, of information on the family in Texas.
