I get so despondent about the Ontong story, because it keeps circling back and forth. Anyway, as I said I am originally from Kimberley and now living in Cape Town. We have a group living over there and a group over here – apparently not related. My Mom is from English descent (Normans from Normandy in France – very far back). Do you see how confusing this is? I think what needs to be done is to focus only on the Ontongs. We do not look Chinese at all. My fathers mother was a German – Muller (there I go again). Will we ever get to the bottom of this? What I have also noticed is that there seem to be a kind of spiritual connection in this sense. Many Ontongs name there children the same even if they do not know about it. E.g. you named your child Noel and as I said Noel lives in Kimberley.
I am a publications manager at the University of Cape Town. I put together the publications of the research unit I work for and maintain their web site as well. My dad died 4 years ago and my mum is 76. I am 46 this year; no kids; no husband; a dog and a cat. I'd like to have a budgie too, but my cat will eat it. My mum, my brother and I share a house. I do hope that we could find a connection for our ancestors. Are your archives not accessible? In any case we'll probably have to hire someone, because I tried our archives, but there is so much information to look at, it will take a life time.
I do hope I could give more info next time.
