My grandfather was named Simon Louis Aronds. He was a jew from Riga. Came to US in approx. 1900, and graduated Brown University, Rhode Island, USA, in 1913. Became wealthy in Real Estate in NYC, assets wiped out in Great Depression of the 1930s. Abandoned family in 1931 or 1932, moved west, possibly to Los Angeles. Died in 1949 or so. Does this help at all?
