Hi,
I believe Sophia and William's daughter, Emily, was my aunt's grandmother (married Falk). I'm afraid I can't help you with much as we don't know that far back on the tree. However we were under the impression that Emily's maiden name was MacLean, and not Gorham-Smith, though from looking through records this seems unlikely. There's another story I've heard that Emily was linked to Scotland and she had a sister Adelaide who both spent time in Orphanages in India before marrying two Falk brothers. Just wandered if what you had tied in at all?
I'd say there can't be that many John Spencer MacLeans knocking around so it must be him.
Thanks again, will keep digging.
Cheers, Matt Tobin
