Alexander Bryson was first awarded the 'Maharajpore Star' for the Punnear Wars. He was killed 9 July 1857 in the prelude to the 'Siege of Lucknow', and was posthumously awarded the 'Mutiny Medal'. He married Marion Kavanagh, sister of Thomas Henry Kavanagh - hero of the Mutiny. They were married in 1846 at Dehrah U.P. and had five children: (1) Amy bryson, b. 1846; (2) Christopher Bryson, b. 1847; (3) Alfred, b. 1849; (4) Alexander Courtney, b. 1851; (5) William Henly, b. 1852. Amy died in infancy; William Henly was killed during the Siege - age 5. Christopher married Jessie Ady in Burma in 1871. Alfred was an artist and an inn-keeper and married Patricia Nicker in Bombay in 1871. Alexander Courtney married Minnie Ross in Cawnpore in 1885. They retired to Cheltenham Gloucester where Alexander Courtney died 28 March 1927. Their son Alexander, was at Redland Hill House School in Bristol in 1901. Looking for descendants.
