Hello Jeff
My advice would be to keep clear of anything to do with the history of the Ince surname. It may be fun to speculate but in my opinion, it serves little purpose from the perspective of one's family tree. I have records of Inces in England going back to the 13C when the name was spelt INES, but there are numerous variants. As for your family tree, the first thing to do is to start by identifying and/or making contact with all living relatives. Compile a correspondence log, arrange some informal interviews, and tape every conversation, including any with your parents. Too many people get seduced by internet genealogy before doing the basics. Forget computers to begin with and stick with people because they're not around for ever. Besides, you'll learn much more. Lastly, make sure that your family members don't throw out old photos and letters. Acquire copies of everything you can get hold of !
Good luck
