Seeking descendants of Wm. R. and Elizabeth (STEELE) CURTIS.

William R Curtis ,born__________c1837 or 1842 at Washington Co. NY, son of Samuel and Elizabeth (HARDING ? HARDEN) Curtis, married on Oct. 27, 1861 in Whitley Co, Indiana, Elizabeth STEELE, born c1844 Ohio, daughter of John Steele, born PA . Elizabeth Steele's mother was born in Virginia.

William R. and Elizabeth had 2 known children,

1. Elmer E., B: 1862 (m: 1st Mary POWELL in 1887)
2. William J., B: 1870 (m Cora M. KYLER in 1902 & had 1 known dau., Fern Curtis)

Frederick A. Curtis (B: 1887) is son of Elmer E.and Mary Powell. By 1900 Elmer and Mary are divorced and Fred is living with his father Elmer and Elmer's parents William R. and Elizabeth (Steele) Curtis.

Elmer is listed as divorced in the 1900 &1910 census and widowed in 1920. It appears that between 1910 and 1920 Elmer remarried.

William R. Curtis died Aug 28, 1902, age 62, Whitley Co., Indiana. He is buried in Lakeview Cem., Whitley Co., Elizabeth died 1926 and is buried in the same cem.

William R. Curtis had a brother Martin Curtis, who married 1st C. Elizabeth Winney & 2nd Samantha Hand / Han, and an uncle Levi Curtis who also lived in Indiana.
