I think that I have corresponded with you before a few years ago. Is your husband a descendant of John & Susannah's son, Charles? If so, then I'm pretty sure it was you. My husband is descended from John & Jane's son, George. I haven't really found anything new on John's parents. About a year ago I was in touch with a man whose daughter-in-law was descended from John & Susannah's daughter, Polly. A cousin of the daughter-in-law had put together a family history shortly before he died. In it he states that John Newton Hatfield's father was John, Sr. b. abt. 1780, MD and married (to unknown) on June 27,1800 in Hardin Co., KY. Since the cousin has died, no one knows what the source of that date and place of marriage was. There is a John Hatfield on the 1810 KY census for Hardin Co. Of course this is before John, Jr, was born in IN. Another person I was in contact with some years ago is descended from a Sarah Hatfield whom she believes to be an older sister to John Newton Hatfield. Sarah was b. 1806, KY. However, the 1810 census in Hardin Co. has no female children on it so this Sarah would not have been the daughter of the John Hatfield of Hardin Co., KY. So, the mystery continues.......
