Peugh/Hamilton desc.? anyone researching?
I would like to correspond with anyone working on the lines of Samuel Peugh and Elizabeth Botts, daughter Nancy. She married David Hamilton, October 29, 1829 in Salem. I have several questions about their children and grandchildren.
I have a copy of the book by Roy Callaway that is in the library in Salem. It has several misleading clues but have tried to find all of this line in census records and find there are probably some marriages that are either wrong people or spellings are so far off I cannot decipher the names.
If you have any of these children in your trees, please write me.
Elizabeth Hamilton, b. 1831, m. James Burcham...Roy Callaway says she died 1861 but I have found James Burcham and Elizabeth with children in Champaign Co., IL in 1870 and 1880 and also their son James H. in 1900. That is IF this is the right James Burcham.
Benjamin Bradley Hamilton, b. 1832, m. Miranda Bryan, found 1850-1880 census, Washington Co., IN...not there 1900
Nancy Hamilton, b. 1833...think she died as a child
Samuel Hamilton, b. 1834, m. Amanda J. Reed, found 1860 and 1880 (but not 1870) and 1900 in Washington Co., IN
Jane Hamilton, b. 1837, Roy Callaway said she was married to John Tash. She was in all the census records still living with her parents and single through 1880. I did not find her with or without John Tash in 1900.
Polly Ann Hamilton, b. 1839, m. John Gorman, I found them in 1870 census in Washington Co., IN but nowhere in 1880.
James N. Hamilton, b. 1842, m. Alice M. Browning, found 1880 in Lawrence Co. and 1900 in Washington Co., IN
Charles W., Hamilton, b. 1845, m. Frances Amy Hitchcock
I found her widowed in 1900 in Washington Co., IN
