Kern/Karn/Mitchell/Hole family near Salem

My grandfather Edward Lester Kern was born in 1870 in Salem.
His father, Daniel Kern was born in 1840 in NC, died in Washington County, buried in Crown Hill Cemetery, 1870. His grandmother,Daniel's mother, Eliza Thomas from NC, is also buried there.
Edward's mother, Mary Catherine Mitchell, b 1835 Washington Co, don't know when she died, probably buried in Wash. Co.
Her parents were Robert Mitchell who died in 1880 and Elizabeth Hole who died in 1890 and both buried in Wash Co.
Any connections, anybody? Looking esp. for descendants of Mitchell family.
