Warren County, Indiana June 1915 MRS. MARTHA J. MATHIS ------- The mother of County Clerk, John Ritenour and Jacob H. Ritenour, after weeks of illness from heart trouble, died at her home on South Lincoln street about ten o’clock Tuesday morning. Her death was not expected, she having been a great sufferer for some time. She had lived in Williamsport many years and was a most estimable lady. The funeral services conducted by Rev. Wilmer were held from the home at 2 P.M. Thursday, interment following in Highland Cemetery. The following brief notice was read by the pastor at the funeral services. Mrs. Martha J. Mathis, the subject of this brief sketch, was born in Ross County, Ohio, near Chillicothe, April 28th, 1842, died at her residence in Williamsport, Indiana, June 8th, 1915, aged 73 years, 1 month and 10 days. She was united in marriage April 17th, 1864 to Henry Ritenour. In this union they were blessed with three children, Vessie Estella, [who died in infancy], Jacob H. and John F. Ritenour. Mr. Ritenour having died March 18, 1888, she afterwards was married to Samuel B. Mathis, who died December 1907. She leaves to mourn her sad departure her two sons, Jacob H. and John F. and one grandchild Fred F. Ritenour, and one grand-daughter Esther and six sisters, Mrs. Reifsnyder of Momence, Illinois, Mrs. Susan Welch, Iroquois, Illinois, Mrs. William H. Brown, Warren County, Indiana, Mrs. Austin Shawcross, Lafayette, Indiana, Mrs. David Misner, Attica, Indiana, and Mrs. Joseph Shawcross, Judyville, Indiana and two brothers, John W. Pepper, Mackinaw, Illinois and W. A. Pepper, Ocla, besides a host of relatives and friends. ------- Notify Administrator about this message?
