HISTORY OF WABASH COUNTY, INDIANA

ISAAC SMITH, farmer, P. O. Somerset This gentleman was born in Champaign County, Ohio, August 16, 1835. His parents were DAVID and SARAH (HOUTS) SMITH. After receiving an ordinary education, upon the death of his parents in 1850, in company with his brother, DR. A. J. SMITH, of Wabash, he came to Indiana. After clerking for some time in Somerset, he purchased the farm upon which he has since resided, about 1859. At that time, about fifty acres were partially cleared; it now consists of 145 acres finely improved, with ample farm buildings and handsome family residence. MR. SMITH was united in marriage, March 31, 1856, to MISS. ELIZABETH HUDSON, born in Logan County, Ohio, in 1837. This marriage was blessed with nine children, of whom but four survive, as follows, viz.: SARAH CATHERINE, NOAH M., DAVID H. and JASPER N.
