Myrtle Selby – daughter of Marion McDuff Selby (Duff Selby) and Millie Weaver
I am looking for a daughter of Marion McDuff Selby (Duff Selby) and Millie Weaver. Her given name was Myrtle Selby. She also went by Murttie or Mertie or some other variation of Myrtle. She can be found in the 1900 census in Terre Haute City, Vigo, Indiana when she was 13 years old.The head of the house was Duff Selby.Later, Marion McDuff Selby divorced Millie Weaver and remarried.
Myrtle’s first marriage was to Percy Phillips in 1904.Then, she married John P McLure (or McClure) in 1907.Then, she married George W. Hines in 1919.George W. Hines is the brother of my great grandmother.I don’t know what happened to either of them after the marriage.
In the 1910 Census, Myrtle and her second husband, John McClure, were in Justice Precinct 8, Palo Pinto, Texas, ED 194.With her were her two children from her first marriage, Asta (or Esta) and Howard Phillips. Her mothers siblings and stepfather were nearby.
In the 1920 Census, George Hines and Myrtle were mistranscribed as “Hiser” in Terre Haute, Indiana, Ward 6, Vigo County, Indiana ED 152.The children were Esta, 14, Howard, 11, (listed as Hiser, but really Phillips) and Edith, 6.George was a teamster at the coal mine.
After 1920, George Hines and Myrtle disappear.I am trying to find out what happened to them.
In the 1930 Census, Edith McClure, the youngest child of Myrtle, seems to be living with her aunt, Hallie McClure, in Terre Haute, Vigo, Indiana. This may very well mean her parents had died, or it may mean her mother had remarried again. Her age was listed as 19.
Mary Elizabeth Hines was the sister of George Hines.Mary Elizabeth Hines is my great grandmother.Their father was also George W. Hines, and their mother was Sarah (Clark) Hines.I can’t find anything about them either.
Do you know anything about these people?
