I am a descendent of James F. Rogers (Frank Rogers) and Elizabeth Hines of Vigo County, Indiana. They had two sons Adelbert (Delbert) Clifton Rogers and Oscar Frank Rogers.
The parents of James F. Rogers are James Oliver Rogers and Evana (Lenderman) Rogers. Evana (Lenderman) Rogers is the daughter of Leonard Lenderman and Sarah (Shank) Lenderman. Census data shows that Sarah Shank was born in North Carolina. But, info on Ancestry.com shows that she was born in Virginia.
My father, Robert James Rogers, grew up knowing Sara(h) Opal Funkhouser as “Aunt Opal”.
Sara(h) Opal Funkhouser daughter of John Bruce Funkhouser and Luretha Lenderman. Luretha Lenderman is the sister of Evana Lenderman.
Robert James Rogers (my father) interviewed Aunt Opal prior to Opal’s death.
In this interview, she gave a lot of information about the Rogers and she established that she was the daughter of Evana’s sister.
I have many old photographs of the Rogers, Lenderman, and Funkhouser families. I do not know many of these people. My father has identified Opal Funkhouser in several of the pictures.
I would love to verify and trade photos with someone. One of the photos is labeled as grandma Lenderman, who would be the grandmother of James F. Rogers because James O. Rogers married Evana Lenderman.
