Yes, there was a 1820 Vigo County census. It should be available in the Vigo County Library in Terre Haute. Here is what I found in Ancestry.com:

1820 Indiana, Vigo County, Unknown Twps, Image 7 of 19

Joseph Shelby

Free white males of twenty six and under forty-five, including heads of families: 1

Free white females under ten years: 3

Free white females of twenty six and under forty-five including heads of families: 1

Numbers of persons engaged in Agriculture: 1
