SHELBY'S--1820 CENSUS
Posted by: Richard V. Shelby (ID *****2608) Date: June 07, 2003 at 06:19:48
  of 1000

My gr. gr. grandfather, Joseph Shelby, came to Indiana with Gen. Wm. H. Harrison in 1811 and was engaged in military service until 1828. He was promoted to full Colonel in 1820. He and his wife had five children while at Fort Harrison, which he was involved in building and maintaining, according to family history handed down to me. Their first child was born there in March 1812 and was named Indiana Shelby. MY QUESTION IS: WAS THERE A CENSUS TAKEN IN VIGO COUNTY IN 1820? HOW CAN I GET SAME, IF THERE WAS ONE TAKEN?
