obit help - Payton

I am a volunteer in St. Clair County, IL and have many relatives in Indiana.

I am hoping to find a similar volunteer in Vermillion county who could check an obit index (if such exists) for the county for Payton. Unfortunately, I don't know for sure which Payton may have died in the county with an obit that would help. Here's the info that I have:

Patterson Thompson (P. T. ) Payton and his immediate family, wife Catherine, children: John N., Sarah, William H.; were in the 1860 census for Vermillion County, IN. They are in the 1880 census for Polk County, MO. I cannot locate them in 1870. They were married in Lawrence Co., OH in 1853 and Catherine (McKennon) was born in Cabell County, VA.

I have located several Patterson Thompson(s) and many Payton families in Cabell County, VA, but have not been able to pin down that generation after PT PAYTON to verify his parents. My great-aunt worked on this family for more than 30 years and was unable to get any further. It's our missing link!

I believe that Patterson's father was either JOHN or HENRY Payton from Cabell Co., VA.

What I am hoping for is an obituary that would list my PT as a relative of a Payton who died in Vermillion County. Supposedly, my great-grandfather, Charles Wellington Payton, was born in Vermillion County, IN in July 1862.

If anyone has the time to help, or a suggestion, please contact me at maestrowz@aol.com. I am willing to share photos and documents for this family.
