I have an interesting side note for you regarding Judge John Green. I was just looking at a book in the library where I work. It is titled "Orphan Trains" by Stephen O'Connor (you should be able to get it from your public library). On pages 180-183, it mentions that in 1859 Judge John Green took in John Brady (he would become the governor of Alaska in 1897), an "orphan" from New York City. While the story is really about John Brady, it does give some information about the Greene family and what they were doing at the time.
