I found an obit for Edward Bowen in two different newspapers. The first is from the Lafayette Leader on April 10, 1980:
Edward Bowen, 89, who made his home with a niece, Mrs. Richard L. (Ruth) Kennedy, 2901 Holly Hill Dr. died April 3 in Americana Healthcare Center where he had been a patient three weeks. Born at Kokomo, he lived in Monticello 14 years prior to coming here 1 1/2 years ago. He was married at Indianapolis to Esther Sluder and she died in 1964. He was a staff sargeant in the Army and served overseas in World Wars I and II. Service was held April 5 in Hippensteel Chapel, Pastor H.C. Stolldorf officiating. Interment Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
The second obit was in the Lafayette Journal & Courier on April 3, 1980. It's slightly different:
Edward Bowen, 89, who made his home with a niece, Mrs Richard L. (Ruth) Kennedy, 2901 Holly Hill Dr. died at 5:50 a.m. today in Americana Nursing Home. He had been a patient there three weeks and in failing health two years.
Born at Kokomo, he was reared there and lived 14 years in Monticello before moving to Lafayette 1 1/2 years ago. He was married at Indianapolis to Esther Sluder, who died in 1964.
Mr. Bowen was a staff sargeant in the army and served overseas in World Wars I and II. He served a total of 27 years and was a former member of the Monticello VFW.
