I would like to know if there was an state instutition for the care of the insane or elderly person incapable of caring for themselves in Indiana in the time period 1880-1900.

Where would such a person be sent? I have found people who were institutionalized in a location far from their home county. I believe there was a "poor farm" in Sullivan County, which township or location would that be?

I am looking for ancestors that have no death record in the Sullivan County where they lived in 1880 and believe to not have left the county.
