Thomas Peer, Sullivan County, 1880 census

I am trying to figure out what happened to Thomas Peer who appears on the 1880 census in Jefferson, Sullivan County, IN, b. abt 1825 in NY, a carpenter, living with wife Marian, daughter Nerva, b. 1877 and step children Ada and John Brown.

The John Brown on the census is my 2nd Great Grandfather. Marian was married to a Levi H. Brown before she married Thomas Peer.

I am trying to find out what happened to Thomas and Nerva Peer.

in 1890, Marian married John Harden Brown (no relation to Levi) in Trigg County, KY, By 1900, Marian is a widoe, living with MillieBrown, the widow of her son John, my ancestor and Nerva is not in the household.

If anyone knows what happened to Thomas or Nerva Peer (is Thomas buried in Indiana???) I'd be very appreciative for any help :)
