The 1820 census record is one where I looked at the actual record. Here are households in order: . . . Richmond Hall, Jacob French, Henry French, Christian Shroyer, Peter Elliott, Anthony Bennett, David Howard, William Gill, William Coplan, . . . .

Re the Dayton area, I know very little. The obituary of a John D. Shroyer (who I believe is the brother of my Henry Shroyer) states he was born near Dayton in 1813. Henry Shroyer was born in Sullivan County in 1815.

I suspect that the father of Henry Shroyer and John D. Shroyer was born in Maryland. However, I'm not even sure of their father's name. It might have been Christian Shroyer; it might have been George Shroyer.

Do you know where your Henry French was born?
