NANCY WEIR, youngest of l2 children, daughter of MR. and MRS. ANDREW WEIR, was born in Sullivan County, Indiana, August l5, l845, and departed this life April 24, l923, aged 77 years, 8 months and 9 days. She was united in marriage to H.L. PEASE, of Clarke County, Illinois, March 24, l869. To this union were born 7 children; MARGARET A. RYAN, Osceola, Iowa; JAMES R. PEASE, Bloomfield, Iowa; R.J. PEASE, Osceola, Iowa; JOSIE V. FLETCHER, Great Bend, Kansas; LOU H. PEASE, Leon, Iowa; MARTHA E. PEUGH, Jefferson, Iowa; O.V. PEASE, Leon, Iowa. The deceased came to Decatur County, Iowa, with her husband in l878, locating on a farm near Leon. MR. H.L. PEASE died July 22, l9l6. MRS. PEASE continued to live on the farm until the year, l902, when she moved to her home in Leon, Iowa.

She leaves to mourn her loss, 7 children; 4 sons, 3 daughters; 2 sisters, MRS. MARTHA HUGHES, Albany, Missouri (her twin sister); and MRS. SARAH CHANDLER, Sullivan, Indiana, 2l grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren. She united with the M.E. Church at the age of l6 years. After her marriage, she with her husband, united with the Presbyterian Church.

Much might be said to her credit as a neighbor and friend, but the great distinguishing feature of her life was her devotion to her family. She seldom retired at night until she knew how all the children were if it were reasonably possible for her to talk with them over the phone, and her baby boy, even after he had a family of his own, seldom went to bed without his mother's blessing.

Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon, April 25th, conducted by Rev. H.L. Olmstead. Interment was in the Leon Cemetery.
