I sent this via email yesterday, but decided that it may be of interest to others as well, so I am posting here as well.

Okay, I read your posting on the ancestors of Earl Schaeffer, born in 1888. Here is what I found, my source is the book, "Cemeteries of Steuben County-1990," two copies of which are located in the Carnegie Public Library in Angola:

Earl D. Schaeffer, 1888-19--(the death date is not given in this book)
m. to Eddith Eastom, 1889-Jan 14, 1971
(Her parents were John Eastom and Clara Danford Eastom)

Earl D. Schaeffer's parents were:

Daniel A. Schaeffer (1858-1937)
m. to Olive Balch (1865-1954)
(Her parents were William Balch and Susan Davis Balch)

Daniel's parents were:

John Schaeffer (Apr 11, 1820-May 5, 1904)
m. to Eve Walmer (June 7, 1823-Jan 9, 1901)

John's parents were:

William Schaeffer (1772-1831)
m. (3dr wife) Margaret Beck(1790-Jan 14, 1875)

William's father was John Nicholas Schaeffer, born in 1723 in Germany, came to PA in 1749 and became a captain in the Revolutionary War. All of this information is in the Angola Library, although a little searching has to be done for some of it. Hope this helps!

Stewart
